Hola, amigos. What up? I know it’s been a long time since I rapped at ya, but things got crazy, if you know what I mean. Anyway, we’re coming into full-on summer, all the way. It has been the year of “most fun ever”, all the time, and the forecast is the same for the rest of it.

Speaking of which, coming up at the end of August is the next edition of the Backyard BLAM! out in Portland. Amanda, the totally rad organizer, says it’s going to include Cycle Speedway, a bike tractor pull, a pro BMX demo, and Nintendo Sprints, among other fun times, and our buddies at Portland Design Works are hosting it at their new space (which was formerly the Department of Skateboarding - awesome!). We sent out some goodies for it and the other sponsors are throwing down some great prizes, so if you’re out that way you should absolutely check it out. I’m trying to figure out how I can head out there myself…

Check out the BLAM blog for more details about this and many other crucial topics.

Do it live!

Things have been quiet for us lately on the web front, but rest assured we’ve been toiling away in the workshop. I’m utilizing my time off of work to finish up a batch of winter caps we’re making for Milwaukee Bicycle Co./Ben’s Cycles (including some exclusives you can’t buy from us). Watch here for those to become available in the next few weeks.

Now that we’re fully into winter, I’m even more excited about our lineup of winter caps this year. I’ve been wearing them on the coldest of rides and they perform excellently. In addition to our current selection of wool, we’re probably going to be incorporating some polar fleece in the future as well.

Stay warm, and have a happy 2010!

The Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition recently commissioned a few 49ers caps which will be sold at a silent auction as a part of their annual fundraiser.

Caps were signed by the following players and are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity:

#11 Alex Smith
#36 Shawntae Spencer
#52 Patrick Willis
#94 Justin Smith
#98 Parys Haralson

These will make pretty neat keepsakes for some lucky cycling football fans out there! We wish the SVBC the best of luck in their fundraiser and are happy to have been a part of it.

From the Queer Bike Gang in Minneapolis, check out Cirque du SoGay. This is going to be a great event. From the gang themselves:

First we want to reach out to new cyclists and those who hardly ever get on bikes, and get them more excited about biking. Second, we want to build awareness of Queer issues, and particularly build tolerance of LGBTQ people in a culture that can often be pretty macho. Our “race” is for all cycling levels, and will include a beginner category, a hard-core racer category, and a Queer/bike knowledge category.

Also look for a “hottest cycling outfit” contest. Sounds pretty great to me.

Inspired by the event, we came up with this cap:
